Malta is as we know a very popular holiday destination, with many coming for the sun, relaxed way of life and affordable entertainment. So how did Three Italian Ladies away from the families spend their three days on our lovely Island?
Meet, Giusi (my Mum, above she is in the blue top), Maura (next to Mum) and Romina (making the selfie) who visited us at the end of May this year, in their very first adventure away from home, together as three young smiling girlfriends 😉
After landing in Malta early Wednesday afternoon, our three ladies headed off to the rocks in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea!
You can imagine their excitement not only because it was Romina and Maura’s first time in Malta, it was also Maura’s first time on a plane!
After settled at their accomodation, The Buccaneers Guest House in Bugibba they quickly went to explore St Paul’s Bay.
They really enjoyed walking along the promenade and roaming around the souvenir shops.
They eventually found one of the oldest shop in the area, where the owner and jeweller Edwins was happy to take a picture with the three tourists 🙂
Was then time for dinner and for my lovely three ladies there was another first time: the Indian Cuisine!
At House of Spice Restaurant we were welcomed by Mohammad the owner and the lovely Aisha who introduced us to the flavours, culture and different dishes of their Cuisine!
It was a delicious experience, not only for the food that was superb but also for the warm welcoming of the Staff of the most rewarded Indian restaurant on social media in Malta!
Quick tip: if you are new to a particular food there is nothing better than someone that can accompany you into the different dishes, in this way you can truly appreciate them with all the senses!
The Three Italian Ladies are off early to explore the island. The weather didn’t allow them to take a boat tour for Comino, however they really enjoyed a long walk all along the St Julians to the Sliema promenade.
Where did they end up? At The Point, the biggest mall in Malta for a shopping session and some fun on the escalators (a young heart makes a person young) 🙂
They then took the ferry from Sliema to Valletta and explore the beautiful European Capital of Culture!
Till they were too exausted to walk and were ready for dinner…
The second night we were dining at The Buccaneers as it is not only a lovely Guest House with beautiful rooms but also a Restaurant and Gastro Pub!
The Ladies already were more than satisfied of their bedroom and the abundant continental breakfast so that they were more than happy to try the local cuisine.
Kurt the owner really let us feel like home in his beautifully renovated Guest House!
Here we are my three pirates 🙂
On the third morning they finally got the chance for a bit of relax… No walking today Maura just sun and sea 😉
Golden Bay on the North West coast of Malta just revealed itself with it’s stunning beauty: a clear crystal blue water and a soft sand to get the three ladies proud of their new tan to show off when back in the town.
After realizing that they were “cooking” under the sun and before coming back to St Paul’s Bay they took the bus and went to see the Popeye Village, as my Mum was a fan of Popeye the Sailor Man 🙂
Popeye Village is a major attraction in Malta as it is the real Film Set of the 1980 Musical Production ‘Popeye’.
You can visit it with your kids all year around.
For the final evening, the ladies experienced a Traditional Maltese Folklore Dinner Show at Ta’ Marija Restaurant.
Ta’ Marija is an pluri Award Winning Restaurant in the heart of Mosta with a long story to tell. A story made of authentic and traditional Maltese cuisine and great hospitality!
Ta’ Marija is after the name of Maria, who has being welcoming and entertaining her guest since fifty years so far with gorgeus dishes and live music events.
It is Ben Junior, Maria’s Son, who warmly welcomed us in their restaurant with a stunning wooden ship galley bar and that charming touch typical of the Knights of Malta period.
The Ta’ Marija Staff as well as the Muscat family pay attention to every details to make your dinining experience an unforgettable one!
The Folklore Dinner Show is a unique experience that involves not only the enjoyment of the food but also of the folklore dances presented by Maria herself in different languages.
You can actually discover some curiosities about Maltese history through this magical perfomance!
Lively mandolins, amazing food, folklore dances and then all to the dancing floor… My three Italian Ladies danced all night long with Leone as well 😉
After three action packed and fun days, the ladies were so disappointed to be returning home 🙁
Romina and Maura were so impressed with what Malta has to offer and how friendly and helpful everybody was, during their first visit. Infact all three ladies enjoyed their time here that much that they are already looking to return here again!!
I would personally like to thank again everyone that helped with this article, especially Mohammad and The House of Spice, Kurt at The Buccanneers Guest House and Gastro Pub and Maria, Ben Jr and the fantastic Staff at Ta’ Marija Restaurant !!
